NRAI Unanimously Approves Constitutional Amendments to Align With National Sports Governance Act
Place: NRAI Date: 20 Jul 2026
Bhubaneswar, July 19, 2026: In a significant move toward structural modernisation and enhanced transparency in sports administration, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has officially amended its Constitution. The landmark changes were approved unanimously by the General Body during a Special General Body Meeting convened on July 18, 2026, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The approved amendments align the shooting federation’s governing framework with the statutory provisions of the landmark National Sports Governance Act (NSGA), 2025. With this transition, the NRAI becomes one of the pioneering national sports federations in India to successfully adopt the legislative reforms, setting a clear governance benchmark for the domestic sporting ecosystem.
Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, President, NRAI, said, "Embracing the regulatory standards of the NSGA 2025 is a progressive step toward building a more robust, accountable, and athlete-centric ecosystem. The unanimous backing from our General Body reflects our collective determination to modernise our administration. These constitutional reforms ensure that the NRAI remains fully compliant with updated national laws while maintaining our strong international standing."
The newly ratified constitution establishes formal, statutory internal mechanisms within the NRAI structure. These include designated committees for athlete welfare, a strict code of ethics, and streamlined internal dispute resolution systems to protect the interests of all members.
Pawankumar Singh, Secretary General, NRAI, added, "Our main focus will always be to safeguard the interests of our shooters and give them a transparent framework to excel. By implementing these structural changes proactively, we ensure that our athletes receive uninterrupted operational and developmental support. This legal alignment strengthens our pathways from the grassroots to the elite international level."
The successful conclusion of the meeting in Odisha reinforces the NRAI’s commitment to administrative excellence as India prepares for major upcoming global training cycles and international assignments.

National Rifle Association of India Signs MoU With Balmer Lawrie for Dedicated Athlete Travel Portal
Place: NRAI Date: 17 Jul 2026
The partnership introduces a customized domestic booking tool offering corporate fares and zero service fees for the federation's 80,000 registered shooters ~
New Delhi, July 16, 2026: The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd. The partnership introduces a customized Self-Booking Tool (SSBT) to streamline domestic travel logistics for athletes, members, and technical officials.
The initiative marks the first time an Indian sports federation has established a dedicated corporate travel system for its members. The digital portal covers both official and personal domestic travel, giving shooters complete autonomy over their travel schedules. The system is designed to directly support the federation's massive base of roughly 80,000 registered shooters, particularly during national and state tournaments conducted across the country.
Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, President, NRAI, said, "Managing domestic travel logistics during a packed season of state and national tournaments can be a major distraction for athletes. By launching this dedicated portal, we want to remove that operational burden entirely so our shooters can focus solely on their sport. This is a unique step for a sports federation in India, and we are proud to partner with Balmer Lawrie to make travel efficient."
The online platform grants users exclusive access to discounted corporate fares on domestic routes, along with complimentary meals and preferred seat selection. Crucially, all corporate discounts and service privileges are extended to the personal bookings of the athletes under a single login framework.
For family support, the tool features a dependent management module allowing users to add up to six family members. The contract also guarantees a zero service fee layout—with only standard payment gateway fees applicable—and minimal cancellation charges aligned with domestic airline policies.
Pawankumar Singh, Secretary General, NRAI, said, "This partnership is another step towards creating a more athlete-friendly ecosystem. The dedicated travel portal will simplify domestic travel, provide cost-effective corporate benefits, and reduce the logistical burden on our athletes and officials. Our objective is to let shooters focus on performance while NRAI continues to improve the support systems around them."
The NRAI and Balmer Lawrie's Travel & Vacations division are currently integrating the secure database to initiate the immediate rollout. The certified digital system fully complies with industry standards, ensuring transparent and up-to-date domestic flight information.
